Hi there. We are planning to climb Xue Shan 雪山(Snow Mountain – 3884m) and Yu Shan 玉山 (Jade Mountain – 3952m) in Dec. There are currently 3 of us. I'm looking for 1 or 2 more reasonably fit person to join us. For Xue Shan, we will be doing it ourselves whereas we will be joining a hiking club for Yu Shan.

09 Dec to 10 Dec
Caoling Historic Trail è‰å¶ºå¤é“.
This trail is recommend by Lonely Planet. As quoted by them - “If you can only do 1 hike during your stay in Taiwan, make it this one. It is along high grassy bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean that make this hike such as treasure.â€
This trail is about 1 hour+ train ride from Taipei. We are doing this trek because we have to wait 1 of our friends who can only arrive at Taipei on 11 Dec.
11 Dec to 13 Dec
Xue Shan 雪山.
We will be driving from Taipei to XueShan which is likely to take 5 – 6 hrs as we will be stopping by Cihu 慈湖 for a break. The entire mountain trek is likely to take 3 days. We will be doing it ourselves.
14 Dec to 15 Dec
Sun Moon Lake æ—¥æœˆæ½ or Hualien 花蓮
From Xueshan we will then drive down to preferably, Sun Moon Lake or Hualien (depending on road conditions) to rest our bodies before the Yushan climb.
16 Dec to 17 Dec
Yushan 玉山
We will meet up with å°åŒ—縣登山會Taipei County Mountaineering Club http://www.keepon.com.tw/ActiveSite/Activity/ListOneForm.asp?ActivityID=28737
that is organising the hike. According to the guide, he will proceed only if there are min 7pax. If the hike is called off, we will probably hike at Tarako Gorge 太é¯é–£ at Hualien instead.
18 Dec to 19 Dec
Alishan 阿里山/Chiayi 嘉義
After the climb, I will be going to Alishan and Chiayi to return the rented car. Those who are going back to Singapore on 20 Dec may choose to follow the Hiking Club back to Taipei.

Tainan å°å—
For those who are history buff like me, you might like to follow me to Tainan and Kinmen 金門.
21 Dec to 23 Dec
Kinmen 金門
We will fly by domestic flight from Tainan to Kinmen and spend about 2 – 3 days there.
23 Dec to 28 Dec
Taipei å°åŒ—
Back in Taipei , we can either relax or explore/hike around the Taipei city/county such as Yangmingshan 陽明山, Maokong 貓空, etc or even take a train to Tarako Gorge太é¯é–£ if we did not go there previously.
This is just a rough guide. I will be asking for advice and doing further research to fine tune the itinerary. Anyway, my budget for this trip is 2500 SGD which includes the air tickets and car rental.
