However, a DSLR is going to cost a bomb – the one I am targeting, the Canon 350D (an entry level DSLR camera) will cost almost $1800, considering the accessories I need to buy to maintain the camera well. So I posted up a thread in ClubSnap forums asking whether the investment is worthwhile.

I’m HAPPY… that the people in the forum discouraged me from the investment! Haha… Come to think of it, it is true, it would be really really hard to maintain the camera in the wilderness, considering all the moisture, the hard knocks… and not to mention, the many occasions where I slipped and fell while I was holding my camera. Another point brought up was that it would be difficult, unless I really go with a group of photographers, because DSLRs are more cumbersome to operate, needing to change the lenses etc, the trekking guides may not be happy to wait for me!

So well, I shall stick to my camera and see what I can do with it! Good that I’m convinced.
