Thanks all who turned up for the MacRitchie walk today! The weather was great this morning and I’m really amazed at the turnout! Not bad for a first time gathering eh!
Here is the group photo we took today. If you want the original hi-res photos, drop me a comment, and I’ll be [...]
K2 Climbing Disaster
I’m sure you heard about it in the news reports… about the 9 fatalities on K2 today.
More about it is reported here.
From the report, apparently the climbers met with the avalanche on their descent and K2 has the deadliest descent:
Those mountaineers who reach the peak have a much greater chance of dying while descending than [...]
Let’s get started with a walk at MacRitchie!
Wow! Its been a loooong while since I posted - over a year! I’ve not been trekking for some time now - its really easy to get bogged down with work once we start working, and time really flies.
… and my belly’s got bigger too.
Well, I’m glad that I started this [...]
15 day trek to Garhwal Himalayas in July, anybody?
Great! After setting up this email list, I received an email last week about one of the members going for a 15 day trek to Garhwal Himalayas in July.

After exchanging a few emails with the group, we figured most of [...]
I want to organise a trip this June/July
I think one of the main reasons why people stop trekking is because of the difficulty to arrange suitable dates where everyone (you normally trek with) can take time off and go out for a few days together. Busy city life is plagued with deadlines to meet, appointments to tend to, and schedules to [...]
Getting back on track : Kilimanjaro 2008
Now that I’ve more time to think about what I really want to do - I should really start real action towards my goal of conquering Kilimanjaro in 2008.
According to a friend, the mountain’s terrain is not difficult technically, and the main issue concerning most trekkers is the altitude sickness.
Its still a year away, but [...]
Next stop: Desaru!
I had dinner with a couple of my Rovers friends a couple of days back, and as usual, we were talking about potential treks other adventure stuff we could explore. One of things that we brought up that appealed to most of us was a cycling trip to Desaru.
Cycling to Desaru is one very [...]
