Let’s get started with a walk at MacRitchie!

Wow! Its been a loooong while since I posted – over a year! I’ve not been trekking for some time now – its really easy to get bogged down with work once we start working, and time really flies.

… and my belly’s got bigger too. ;)

Well, I’m glad that I started this blog, if not I guess my trekking days will be over. Its great to know that over the year, the community has grown to a good size (at least enough to be a community!) :)

Recently, there has been a little more activity, and a few of us have decided to get started with a small activity – just as a warm up… lets go for a walk at MacRitchie Reservoir next weekend!

Here are the details:

Date: 10 August 2008 Sunny Sunday!

Time: Meet at 0815hrs (please come on time, we’ll leave at 0830hrs sharp!)

Where: Bus stop at MacRitchie Reservoir (refer to map below!)

What: Walk, 1 round MacRitchie ~ 2 – 3 hours, and get to know each other better! (so we can work on longer treks!)

Grade: Suitable for everyone! Bring water, cap, snacks (if you need) and insect repellant if you are very sensitive to insects.

Who: You! If you are reading this… and bring your friends along! No need to register or pay anything, but do leave a comment on this post, so we know approximately how many to expect!

Here’s the map and how to get there:

Excited!

there is a ‘new’ trail called the kampung trail that starts as the very 1st trail from the entrace from the main road. we can try that out. it is an easy trail but takes 1.5 hours.

map of this trail is at this website:

Wahaha… I’m amazed at the response. Heh, oh yes, I forgot to leave my number – its 96195806, so you can call me to get in contact.

Since I really don’t know the what everybody is comfortable with and this is the first time I’m organising for this community, lets get started with the 4.8km (purple) track, shall we?

That will take us about an hour, if we don’t treat this as a training session – and we will still have our sunday afternoon free for us to do other things.

… then next time when we’ve established who are the garang trekkers and who are just starting out, then we can work on the 11km round + tree top walk!

Bernard – lets go Bukit Timah next round!

    Hi all,
am new. keen to join but I’ve got church service at 11am. It may be a bit stressful to expect the trek to end in an hour and then fly home to get ready for church..?

Anyway, have fun and hope to join the next round!

    Cheers!

Hi everybody! I’m so excited about tomorrow – even my parents wanna join in for the walk! :P

Anyway, just a reminder – please be on time. While I roughly know the number of people who are going, there is no registration and we shall not inconvenience anybody who is there early, and we will not wait for anybody, we will leave on time at 8:30am!

    :)

In the case which you are late and want to catch up with us, call me at 96195806.

Again, to set expectations right – it will be a 4.8km walk, just to breathe some fresh air and get to know each other. We are expecting to finish by 10:30am latest!

For those who cannot make it for tomorrow’s session, fret not, because if this goes well, I’m sure there will be more sessions – in other parts of Singapore less known to the public!

    Cya tomorrow morning!
