Care to join the Singapore Trekking community?
In effort to form up this community of trekkers in Singapore, I have recently subscribed to an email management service so that I don’t have to keep track of all your email addresses by copying them into my Excel file one by one!
Through this list, I hope that I can help to connect you with other people interested in trekking, so for example, if you are organising a trek and you hope to find some company, you can contact me and I can help you broadcast out. Do sign up for the community at the blog sidebar if you are interested to be part of the community!
Actually, I would love to use a forum for this purpose instead, but from my own experience, forums need a lot of time and effort for moderation… and I doubt I will be able to spend that time doing that!
So I guess email is the next best alternative yeah?

I was elated to stumble onto this as I thought my trekking and hiking days were over when I moved to Singapore in Sept 2005. I trekked regularly back home in Malaysia and was also a member of the Malaysian Nature Society.
I’ve since tried to generate my interest in water sports (which is more easily accesible here) but my heart is still with the jungles!
I know it’s the monsoon season but please let me know if you are hitting the hills soon!

Hello. I will be visiting Singapore in April and would enjoy getting out on some hikes. I may not have time for long treks since I’ll only be there a few days, but would definitely like to see Singapore from a different vantage point than the usual tourist gets. If you have any ideas on outdoors must-see sights, hikes, or other information, please let me know. Thanks!

Hey i just joined the community and is very interested in meeting up with people of similar trekking interest. I have done KK and Rinjani and planning to Everest Base via Nepal this year sometime Oct, 18D/14D on trek. It would be great to hear tips and even better if there is already people thinking of going and would like to form a group to go (hence meet up earlier to get to know each other). Looking forward to responses. Ps. I have set target for Kili in 2009.

Hi, I have just come to stay in Singapore and am glad to come upon people in love with nature. Is there someone out there who is interested in the Bukit Timah/Ophir trek, to begin with? It appears that a lot of you on the blog have graduated beyond this stretch. I have plenty of time in hand, weekdays included, and will be happy with anyone for company (and sure hope you will enjoy mine)! It would be good for a start if at least one in the group has been there before.Keenly awaiting response(s!).Thanks!

Hi all,
Jake here. Glad to hear some activity after my post. Good luck Ida for your KK. I was there last year April via the Mesilau route, which is more interesting, although bit tougher than via the gate. You should enjoy it as KK is a friendly and at the summit area, is a nice walk.
Alex, the shop xtrekkers are organising a get together at bukit timah 3 pm. This is for the Nepal trip to Everest base camp this Oct 16 and there are 3 of us. I have told CK (the orgainser) about you interest to join us, although he has not replied, but i don’t think he will mind. So let me know if you are interested.

Hello everybody,I Will be joining the B.Timah this wednesday.Loo out for an old man, spectacled, with white hair, a stoop and a grimace
We could meet up at the reception by 0845Hrs, wednesday? We could start by 9 AM.I did this once with Jake and others and was exhausted, but enjoyed it. I followed it up with MacRitcie/Tree Top and then with a trip to Pulau Ubin. The latter resembles places in Kerala,India. Walking, than cycling, allowed us to spot some monitors and ogle at 3
Durians-the only ones on the Island
, this late in the season.
The Quarry we looked into had unusually blue waters that was so clear, we could see the rocky bottom. The settings, with rough hewn granite partly hidden by garlands of green shrubs and creepers, with red eye-brows formed of the soil-layer atop the rock-line were ideallistic…straight out of those serene desktop screen-savers you see, and wonder where they were photographed from. All that was missing were some orange fish!!

Hi Jake,
I’m planning this with a fren who’s based in the UK. He knows a Kili guide so he’ll be getting some rough quotes on the landed costs thru his source and I’ll be checking with the local packages as well (Last year when i enquired with UTC the Kili trip cost ~ S$4000). Yeah we’re aware that Apr-May period may be the wet season at Kili but its the best period available for both of us so we’re likely to try to plan around that period still. I may have a couple more guys interested but as yet not confirmed…
i can keep u updated once i get more info within the next couple of weeks…
