Leading a trek

Here are some tips if you are leading a trek, whether its for your friends or for a group of people you don’t know.

  1. Let the group pace themselves – you would rather they not complete the trek than have someone collapse due to exhaustion
  2. Make the difficulty of the trek known – so that the participants have sufficient time to train for the trek
  3. Let the participants know the itinerary of the trek, so that they know exactly what to prepare
  4. Let them understand that for every trek, there is a need to abide by the “turn back time”, in order not to end up trekking in the darkness
  5. Always stretch before trekking – doing some warm ups can really help
  6. Distribute the load evenly – carrying a heavy load is tiring, so help each other out!
