Leading a trek
Here are some tips if you are leading a trek, whether its for your friends or for a group of people you don’t know.
- Let the group pace themselves – you would rather they not complete the trek than have someone collapse due to exhaustion
- Make the difficulty of the trek known – so that the participants have sufficient time to train for the trek
- Let the participants know the itinerary of the trek, so that they know exactly what to prepare
- Let them understand that for every trek, there is a need to abide by the “turn back time”, in order not to end up trekking in the darkness
- Always stretch before trekking – doing some warm ups can really help
- Distribute the load evenly – carrying a heavy load is tiring, so help each other out!
