A blog on a Mount Kilimanjaro conquest!

I found a blog on a trekker’s conquest of Mount Kilimanjaro! So cool! So much to learn from him!

Here’s the quote I’m looking for!

You have been awake for about 8-9 hrs, there is 2/3 the oxygen at sea level, you have another 6-7 hrs of walking ahead of you, in short your body is physically and mentally wrecked. In any normal circumstance you would feel you where about to break down, but you have this unavoidable feeling of utter joy. The feeling can only be felt after a massive achievement and massive endurance.

Haha.. I’m dying for this feeling!

Anyway, Ian (the blog author) did the Machame route, which is different from the one I want to go. Nevertheless, there are really few pointers I can learn from him, like what Tarzania is like and everything.

He recommended a book “Kilimanjaro: a trekking guide to Africa highest mountain” by Henry Stedman. I checked out the book on Amazon, and it seems that there will a new edition coming out on June 1st this year! Great! He got his contact for the operator through the book, so I guess it would be a good resource anyway!

I will want to spend more time at Tarzania, after flying all the way there, so I guess the the basic outline for my itenerary to Tarzania would be something like:

Day 1 - Reach Tarzania
Day 4 - Start Trek
Day 9 - Summit
Day 11 - Back to Base
Day 12 - Safari Adventure
Day 15 - Depart Tarzania

Well… will fill in the blanks as I learn more. Haha.. shall surf around for more accounts of Kilimanjaro summits! So fun!
